Kale is traditionally cooked with collard greens. I make it all the time and I guess because my son grew up eating it, he is used to it and loves it.

We didn't cook with kale until recently, when we added it to our Kalua Pig recipe for our Ultimate Backyard Lu'au. It's really good! I wish we could eat more of it but you can't even find it in the Cold Storage here in Kuching.

Kale is starting to show up at my market too. I love the autumn! PS I nominated your lovely tribute to your father to the FoodShots website. They post foodshots with good stories attached. Which your post certainly was. I noticed today they ran it. I hope I did not overstep. I probably should have asked. http://foodshots.wordpress.com/2009/ GREG

Kelly,
I’ve heard other people mention/complain about the bitter taste. I never had that problem. Maybe because I blanch them (cook in lots of water) and the bitterness leaks out of them?
What method do you usually use when cooking them?

That is too funny! I love that the lady you ran into was buying the greens for her rabbits. I'm still getting used to the flavor of bitter greens, but throwing them in with something I love (ravioli) seems like a smart idea. Nice post.

Oh that looks delicious! I love to add kale to pasta but unfortunately my little guy doesn't fall for it either. One day...
