I read your blog alot and really love it. I just joined a CSA near my home in olympia. We picked up our first box yesterday and I got collard greens in it and I am looking for a recipe that hides this healthy green. I have tried to make it before and it comes out bitter. any suggestions?

Oh I am so jealous of your lettuces. I planted mine in a big container on my raised deck hoping to fool the deers. No such luck. They walked right up and ate it all as if I put their salad in a bowl for them.

Enough your lettuce!!

Some of my favorite food blogs have already been mentioned (The Pioneer Woman, Smitten Kitchen, Joy the Baker, Under the Highchair). Unless I missed it, I haven't seen http://noblepig.com/ on here or http://www.101cookbooks.com/. Both are food-loving gems.

<abbr><em>Shaina’s last blog post..<a href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/foodformyfamily/~3/FylMXMKhmew/wish-i-was-there-mediterranean-pasta" rel="nofollow">Wish I Was There Mediterranean Pasta</a></abbr></em>

Mmmm, I love greens! We have bagfulls from our CSA and I'm going to town with them.

Here's my blogs that have touched me:
I love Steamy Kitchen (http://SteamyKitchen.com) because Jaden is so real and passionate and lets you know exactly what she's thinking. Her blog is what inspired me to put recipes on my blog and she really seeks to build community with her readers.

I also enjoy Dine and Dish (http://dineanddish.net/) because her posts always feel like she's telling you about her day over a cup of steaming hot coffee.

Matt,
About the lettuce, I'm no expert, but the lady at the nursery told me to cut the leaves from the outside since lettuce grows from the center. It worked great so far! So I guess that's the way to do it.
With arugula, I cut the bigger leaves. It now wants to flower so I chop any sign of something that's going to develop into a flower since that means pretty much there would be no arugula (I think).

My favorite food blogs right now...
http://www.eatliverun.com (lots of good looking snacks)
http://www.fertilehealthy.com (very inspiring)
http://www.healthytippingpoint.com (a fellow vegetarian athlete who eats great food).

Also, question about the lettuce. We're growing it for the first time. When you harvest it, do you just pull the whole thing from the ground? Or can you cut the leaves off and have them grow back within a few days?

I also love http://foodgawker.com -the visual porthole to a huge variety of foodie blogs/sites. One visit to this site and you'll know why it is called food gawker! The photos make my mouth water!

I've been hooked on Dinner with Julie for a while now http://dinnerwithjulie.com/ Guess I really connect with her as she is a mom to a 3yo boy as well. Plus these is no pretense, she blogs the good and the bad--and often! I'm always moved by her writing.

Woohoo! My first comment on your blog.

I recommend: http://franticfoodie.com/

To me, this is a very caring blog because she informs food bloggers around Seattle about various events and she organizes them, too!

Cheers!
